Chef Regi Mathew, Founder-Partner at Chatti by Regi Mathew, is a celebrated chef renowned for his expertise in regional Indian cuisine, with a special focus on Kerala’s toddy shop culture. Recognized as a culinary pioneer, Chef Regi blends authenticity, innovation, and storytelling in every dish, taking Kerala’s flavors to the global stage.

As the Culinary Director and Founder of Kappa Chakka Kandhari, his flagship venture, Chef Regi has redefined homestyle Kerala cuisine, establishing a strong foothold in Bengaluru and Chennai. Both Kappa Chakka Kandhari and Chatti reflect his lifelong dedication to preserving and promoting India’s culinary heritage.

The Journey of a Culinary Artist

Born and raised in Kerala, Chef Regi’s love for cooking was sparked during childhood, inspired by his mother’s recipes and the flavors of his home state. After pursuing a degree in Chemistry from Mahatma Gandhi University, he studied Hotel Management at IHMCT & AN, Trivandrum, and earned a postgraduate diploma in business management from XLRI Jamshedpur.

Chef Regi began his career as a trainee with the Taj Group and quickly rose through the ranks, eventually crafting menus for renowned restaurants like Benjarong and Ente Keralam. Over the years, he gained expertise in Thai and Spanish cuisines through international training, further enriching his culinary perspective.
